Christian turned 4 weeks old yesterday. Time is passing tremendously fast and it's quite scary. His eyes can focus now and he follows our fingers, a toy or whatever when we move it. He has very clear and alert moments after his meals where he makes cute sounds and takes everything in. He continues to be a good baby only crying and complaining when he's hungry or when his diaper is being changed (this one is a mystery to everyone). Christmas photos are coming soon!

Yesterday was little Christian's 3 week birthday and daddy and I are astounded by how fast he's growing and how many changes are taking place so quickly. He is such a little blessing. It is the most wonderful and magical feeling having him curled up on my chest when I'm burping him. He's sooooo cuddely and smells so good and feels so warm. I love it when he maneuvers his little head to look at me. He's getting used to his baths and doesn't scream bloody murder every time I change his diaper now. I guess he's becoming used to the outside world. Today we had our first mommy and baby meeting and Christian wowed everyone with his full head of hair. He was a bit antisocial and slept through almost the whole event but managed to wake up for a feeding a few minutes before the date was over. We're going in for his weigh in (and mine) tomorrow, and I suspect that he's gained and grown a fair amount this week. Probably won't write again till after the holidays so Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone. MAY GODD BLESS YOU ALL

Today is Christian's 2 week birthday and I can now see why parents say that they grow so fast. In only two weeks he has already gone through a significant change. This week he took his first subway ride, went shopping and out for dinner and coffee with mum and dad...and he slept through everything. He now has clearly alert time during his waking hours and the stump of his umbilical cord fell off this week. There is now no evidence that he was ever connected to me and frankly it breaks my heart. We are still having some difficulties with the whole breastfeeding concept, but we haven't given up yet and are hoping that all will be solved within due time. In the meantime we are suplementing with formula in addition to bottled breastmilk but doing well nonetheless. Hopefully going to buy our stroller this week (it took me forever to find the one I want, it's got snow tires) and going Christmas shopping and doing some Christmas baking. The tree is up and decorated in silver and blue and now all that's missing are some prettily wrapped boxes to put under it. KISSES

Hello there everyone! First an apology for those of you who's calls I haven't returned, the little man hasn't been leaving me alot of phone time. Despite being a good baby all we're both managing to do is eat and sleep. But I'm getting better at this breastfeeding thing and hope to be able to call back sometime soon.
It was a very sudden labour. I felt my first contraction at 6:30am and be 7:30am they were four minutes apart and lasting 2 minutes each. I laboured mostly at home with Jorge, my mom and Susan and Elena(the midwives). We left for the hospital at 4:30pm and by 7:30pm he was born. It was a completely natural childbirth, I didn't even get so much as an aspirin (yes you should all be giving me a standing ovation right now because I damn well deserve it). I had expected to come home right away but that plan got canned because he was showing some difficulty breathing. It ended up being absolutely nothing but it landed us 2.5 days and 3 nights in the hospital.
Thanks to God we are now happily home, getting to know eachother and trying to establish some type of routine. I hope to have some pictures up soon, just finishing off the roll so that we can develope them.
Daddy's going to give him his first official bath tonight and we've already had two good poops (for those of you who are parents you can appreciate how meaningful that is). For now lots of kisses from Christian and Goodnite!Comments:Add a comment:
