HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! Hope that everyone had a fabulous holiday and that all is well. We had a great time here in the Rumor-Couto household. Our first Christmas in our new house and we had visitors from France. Eddy, Guillome and Mariel came to share the festive season with us and I'm happy to report we had a great time! Christian got tons of toys of course, between his grandparents, godparents and Santa he got more transportation products than he could have ever dreamed of, as well as an array of Bob the Builder merchandise and lots of other stuff. Christian followed a strict diet of baguettes and clementines all through the festivities, so he is the only one out of all of us who didn't gain any weight and is therefore not joining the gym in '08. Best wishes to all in this New Year!

Fall is quickly coming to an end and Christian's 2nd birthday is fast approaching. I can hardly believe that two whole years have gone by since I first met him. So much has happened and I can't believe how truly blessed I am to be the mother of such a fantastic little boy. We found out this week, at his two year check-up, that's he's grown another 6 centimeters, but he didn't gain any weight and I can only conclude that that's due to the self-imposed, calorie restricted diet, typical of a toddler, he's put himself on. Every day his adoration for planes, cars, buses and all things locamotive, becomes increasingly more profound. He runs faster. He says more. He hugs and kisses and cuddles with more intensity. He explores with more attention to detail and tries his very best to please mommy (when others are watching, when we're alone, he could care less). I am truly lucky and can only think that I must've done something good in my life to be worthy of such a little prince.

Well, we're back from our 6 week vacation in Portugal. The holiday was a bit of an adventure for mommy and daddy but I think Christian had a good time. He had a bit of a challenge adjusting to the new country, but after about 1-2 weeks (I can't remember now) he got right into the groove of things and had a blast. Although he was adverse to going to the beach at first, he soon became accustomed to the sun and sand and wanted nothing but to dive head first into the Atlantic. He ate lots of sand, got to chase bunnies around in grandma Couto's garden with cousin Mario and ate to many non-organic, white food items, but I did manage to put my foot down when it came to chocolate, coffee, alcohol and tabacco (Europeans are so liberal LOL). I hope to have time to post all our pics within the next week and then you can all enjoy seeing Christian in his sexy swimming trunks. It feels good to be back home in the True North Strong and Free!

Where to start, where to start? I guess the biggest news right now is Christian's mouthfull of teeth. They finally all came in. ALL AT ONCE! The poor little monkey. But I have to say that other than the snotty nose, he's handling it really well. I suspect that Christian is going to take after my mother and be an absolute clean nut. It's absolutely adorable. I let him eat his afternoon snack in front the TV, as opposed to the highchair and watch his Baby Einstein (stop judging my mothering), when he's finished he ALWAYS brings his plate into the kitchen and throws it into the sink. I just wanna sqeeze him. And then, the other day I was folding his laundry and he dug out one of his wash cloths and started cleaning the glass on the living/dining room doors. He's also getting to know his way around TO pretty well. The other day I was walking to the playcenter, but I wanted to go to the fish market first. When I didn't turn South on Jones he threw an absolute fit. Kept turning around in his stroller and pointing back. It took me a good five minutes to convince him that we really were going to come back. He knows how to get into the drop in center too. He pushes the automatic door button and saunters right in like it's nobody's business. I'm so proud of my self-sufficient little man. As for now, we're getting ourselves mentally prepped for a six-week holiday in Portugal. I'm a bit nervous about the flight but we upgraded to first class for more room and I'm stocking up on travel tips to make the whole event as pleasant as possible. I can't believe he'll be 18 months in 3 days. I still remember the day I found out I was pregnant, clear as day. Stay tuned for more photos and stories in a few weeks, I've got another roll of film almost ready to develop.

Christian now insists on helping mommy and daddy clear the table after dinner. Mommy is hoping that in 3 months she'll have him trained to do the dishes, vaccum and clean the bathroom. In six months he'll hopefully be able to put dinner together. LOL

Slowly but surely those teeth are pushing through! We've been having a rough couple of nights (due to teething) and this morning while going through our teethbrushing routine, I felt the pokes of two more teeth. THANK THE GOOD LORD! Maybe we'll all get some sleep tonight. He said juice again today (I haven't had the heart to tell him it's mostly water) but only once, he refuses to repeat the word if I encourage him to do so. Little bugger. Anyway, other than that I guess the only other novelty is that he's got a real sense of humour and gets a real kick out of testing his mommy. He likes it when we chase him around the dinning room table and play peekaboo. He doesn't particulary like walking in the snow...but then again neither do I.

BIG NEWS! We have a walking baby! He started training last weekend with a little walker that grandma and grandpa got him and by Tuesday he was going it alone. There's still some wobbling and tumbling going on but he's got the glint of determination in his eye. He also said doggy this morning. He seems to be intrigued by "D" words so we're encouraging him. I'd like to apologize for not having updated in such a long time. I'm a bad mother and lost his 1st Birthday pictures and was too embarassed to announce it everyone. But alas! He's doing well, getting taller and thinner and faster and smarter. I can only hope that I can keep up!
